Sing for Their Supper stuffs the shelves!!

On Saturday, December 6th, Girl Scout Association 70 descended upon Loudoun Interfaith Relief with close to 4,000 pounds of food donations! This event was begun 15 years ago by Kit Kobran's Girl Scout troop. It's been running smoothly ever since. David Dywer, Director of Operations for Loudoun Interfaith Relief says, "We are so grateful to the Girl Scouts for organizing this event. The girls come in, bring the food, stack our shelves, provide refreshments to the donors and even clean up after themselves. We want them back next year and for years to come. The food that they bring in will help so many who are in need."

In the weeks before December 6th, girls gather in troops to collect donations from their neighbors or to host collection sites at local grocery stores. They meet, they carol, they collect. And when they get together to see how much it adds up to, the results are staggering. Last year we collected just over 2,500 pounds of food. We topped that this year with just over 3,700 pounds.

Girls from all over the county helped stock the shelves, and the event was hosted this year by troops from Service Unit 70-8. It was a great effort by all - by the girls, by our community, by our neighbors. When we all band together, we can accomplish truly great things!!
